Working together with the Town and the Steering Committee, REA has updated the 2016 McCordsville Comprehensive Plan by facilitating a forward-thinking, aspirational process where data and public input inform the recommendations and policy direction.
Recommendations include benchmarks for the Town and elected and appointed officials, staff, developers, property owners, and the public to manage growth and redevelopment in the Town, while supporting its history, growth tolerance, redevelopment potential, and building its assets. The comprehensive plan addresses land use type, location, density, and character, while promoting responsible and sustainable economic development.
Framework plans including land use and transportation were developed as were housing, utilities, town center, parks and open space, and public facilities. We worked with the public to identify gateways, mixed use districts, critical corridors, and future subareas. Frameworks were prepared in a manner that engaged key stakeholders and constituents, generated buy-in, ownership and consensus, and, ultimately, outlined a collective community direction for growth, development, and redevelopment which informed the policy objectives and recommendations of the plan.
McCordsville envisions its future self as a welcoming and charming town with an active town center, local parks, local businesses, desirable schools, good healthcare access, and quality housing options connected by a complete street network that provides access to regional destinations.
